While housing challenges faced by renters, such as unaffordability, poor physical conditions, crowding, and evictions, often occur simultaneously, they typically are studied as standalone problems. In this session, Giselle Routhier will present work that examines housing insecurity as a multidimensional phenomenon and uses multiple variables to develop a more accurate index of housing insecurity. She will also discuss how a more comprehensive definition and index could be used to better understand and address inequities in maintaining secure housing, particularly among populations protected by the Fair Housing Act. Jennifer Molinsky, a Senior Research Associate at the Center, will moderate the discussion.
