Aaron Smithson

Housing Design Fellow

Aaron Smithson is a Housing Design Fellow at the Harvard Joint Center for Housing Studies working on The State of Housing Design 2026 and other projects related to housing design, construction, and the policies that shape them. He has worked as a designer, planner, and researcher across the public, private, and nonprofit sectors. Aaron's writing has been published by Urban Omnibus, Colorado Review, Architectural Record, Dwell, and The Architect's Newspaper, among others. He holds a BA in Urban Studies and Architectural History from Columbia University and received masters degrees in both architecture and urban planning from the Harvard Graduate School of Design.
