Innovative approaches to building affordable housing and revitalizing commercial corridors will be the focus of presentations by our 2024 Gramlich Fellows in Community and Economic Development.
Aaron Smithson, a Master of Urban Planning (MUP) and Master of Architecture student at the Harvard Graduate School of Design (GSD), will present his research on the growing use of manufactured and modular housing to build permanently affordable housing on urban sites. Jein Park, a MUP at GSD, will discuss research on efforts to revitalize commercial corridors, with a particular focus on Massachusetts’ Transformative Development Initiative.
The Gramlich Fellowship, which is co-sponsored by the Center and NeighborWorks® America, gives Harvard graduate students the opportunity to research promising approaches for addressing challenges related to affordable housing and community development. The application deadline for the 2025 Gramlich Fellowship is Tuesday, February 18, 2025.
