Assets, Building Credit
The
Building Assets, Building Credit symposium was sponsored by the
Ford Foundation, Freddie Mac and NeighborWorks America and held
at Harvard in November of 2003. The focus was on financial services
as a gateway to homeownership with a particular focus on the role
of savings, transaction accounts, short-term credit providers,
and credit scores in impeding or facilitating asset accumulation.

Building Products Distribution
Study
The
Joint Center for Housing Studies is working collaboratively with
the Harvard Center for Textile and Apparel Research on a project
to study changes in the distribution of residential building products.

Than Shelter: Bellagio Housing Conference
In
May 2005, the Joint Center, with support from the Rockefeller
Foundation, convened a four-day intensive gathering of top policy
makers from four countries with similar housing challenges - Mexico,
South Africa, Thailand, and Kenya - together with global experts
and business leaders in housing and housing finance. The goal
of this conference was to explore and demonstrate the role of
housing as a valuable instrument of economic and social development

The
Patterns and Process of Sprawl: Quantitative Measures, Typologies,
and Case Studies of Urban Growth
The Patterns and Process of Sprawl is a three-year research
project conducted under the auspices of the Joint Center for Housing
Studies of Harvard University and supported by the United States
Geological Survey, of the Department of the Interior. Its chief
goal is to provide greater insight into patterns of urbanization
and suburbanization in the United States. more>>
Remodeling Futures Program
Since
1995, the Joint Center has been conducting a comprehensive study
of the factors influencing the growth and changing characteristics
of housing renovation and repair activity in the United States.
