Research:
Government
Programs
The
Joint Center's research evaluates and analyzes the effects of
various government programs on housing outcomes for individuals
and communities.
One
major research effort has focused on the impact of the Community
Reinvestment Act (CRA). With support from the Ford Foundation,
the Joint Center examines home mortgage lending patterns in 180
metropolitan areas for the period 1993-1999. The Center's research
examines the contributions made by the CRA in expanding access
to mortgage loans by low-income people and low-income communities.
Other
programs examined in Joint Center publications include public
housing, federally sponsored rehabilitation activity, and tax-credit
incentives for low-income housing.
