The Joint Center offers a year fellowship award for doctoral candidates at Harvard University who are engaged in writing a dissertation on a housing-related topic consistent with the Center’s research agenda. The fellowship is named in honor of Dr. John R. Meyer, Professor of Capital Formation and Economic Growth, Emeritus,of the John F. Kennedy School of Government. Professor Meyer is a leading expert in urban economics and his work has been related to the Center’s activities for many years. He served as Interim Director from 1996 to 1998, and chaired the Joint Center’s Faculty Committee from 1997-2003.
Qualified Candidates and Expectations
Harvard doctoral students in law, business, economics, planning or public policy programs or other related fields (e.g. public health), whose dissertation proposal has been approved by their department. Demonstrated commitment to the field of housing research and genuine desire to exchange ideas with the Joint Center research staff

- Project advising and support from JCHS faculty
- Publication of project, in whole or in part, as a part if the Center’s Working Paper Series.
