Dunlop Lecture Speaker Announced

The
Joint Center for Housing Studies will hold the fourth annual John
T. Dunlop Lecture on Tuesday, February 4th at the National Housing
Center in Washington D.C. The Lecture, entitled "The American
Dream of Homeownership: From Cliché to Mission" honors
Lamont University
Professor Emeritus, John T. Dunlop for his distinguished career
at the University, in government, and in the private sector. Angelo
R. Mozilo, of Countrywide Financial Services, presents this year's
talk. The lecture is sponsored by the National Housing Endowment.
Nicolas
P. Retsinas, director of the Joint Center, expressed enthusiasm
about the event and lecturer, "the Dunlop Lecture acknowledges
the unique nexus of public service and the private sector that has
been the context for the distinguished career of John T. Dunlop.
Angelo R. Mozilo, who co-founded Countrywide Financial Corporation
(NYSE: CFC) in 1969, is Chairman, President and Chief Executive
Officer. He also serves as Chairman of Countrywide Home Loans, Inc.,
the company's main subsidiary. Countrywide, a global leader in residential
finance and related services and a member of the S&P 500, Forbes
500 and Barrons 500 maintains more than 520 offices across the country,
with a work force of more than 25,000 employees. Mozilo is active
in all aspects of Countrywide's businesses. While he reviews all
financial and operational activities, his central focus is on overall
business growth and strategic direction. Mozilo was the 1991-1992
President of the Mortgage Bankers Association of America, and continues
to serve on the MBA Board of Directors. He also is a member of the
Policy Advisory Board of the Harvard Joint Center for Housing Studies.
The
Dunlop Lecture Series honors a distinguished member of the Harvard
community in recognizing the contributions of Professor John T.
Dunlop. In addition to serving as Chairman of the Economics Department
and Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Professor Dunlop was
United States Secretary of Labor during the Ford administration.
He has had a lifetime career in mediation, arbitration and dispute
resolution. A commitment to the nation's construction industries
and housing has also distinguished his work. He has served as chairman
of the Construction Industry Stabilization Committee, and he played
a role in the establishment of the National Institute for Building
Sciences. He was made a member of the National Housing Hall of Fame
by the National Association of Home Builders in 1986. He also serves
on the board of the National Housing Endowment. In 1971, Professor
Dunlop played a key role in establishing the Policy Advisory Board
of the Joint Center for Housing Studies.
The
Dunlop Lecture took place at 6:00 pm at the National Housing Center
location at the National Association of Home Builders at 1201 15th
Street, NW, Washington D.C.
