Faculty Advisory Committee

The JCHS Faculty Advisory Committee is appointed annually by the Dean of the Graduate School of Design and is chaired by the Center’s Managing Director. The purpose of the committee is to provide insight and guidance to the Joint Center and the Dean regarding the pursuit of the Center’s mission through its research, education, and outreach activities. The diversity of intellectual focus among the committee members is central to furthering the Joint Center’s role in fostering housing-related research and education across the University.

Sai Balakrishnan

Assistant Professor of Urban Planning

Sai Balakrishnan is an Assistant Professor of Urban Planning at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design. Prior to that, she was an Assistant Professor in International Development at the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy at Rutgers University, and served as a Postdoctoral Scholar at Columbia Law School’s Center on Global Legal Transformations.

Quinton Mayne

Associate Professor of Public Policy

Quinton Mayne is Associate Professor of Public Policy in the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. He received his Ph.D. in Politics from Princeton University. His dissertation, entitled The Satisfied Citizen: Participation, Influence, and Public Perceptions of Democratic Performance, won the American Political Science Association's 2011 Ernst B. Haas Best Dissertation Award in European Politics as well as the 2011 Best Dissertation Award in Urban Politics.

Elizabeth Whittaker

Associate Professor in Practice of Architecture

Elizabeth Whittaker is an Assistant Professor in Practice of Architecture and has been teaching Core Studios since 2009. Elizabeth is founder and principal of MERGE architects, based in Boston since 2003. Their work addresses multiple scales including commercial, institutional, retail, private residential, multi-family housing, as well as graphic and furniture design.
